It will not be possible to overshadow the work of our peacekeepers in Karabakh ․ Zakharova

Moscow is seriously concerned about the escalation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on January 11. The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova said this today, on January 13, during the weekly briefing.

According to Zakharova, Russia calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to refrain from the use of force and to resolve all issues exclusively through political and diplomatic means.

“In the long run, the main way to ensure stability and security in the region is the urgent start of the demarcation process, which was recorded in the November 26 trilateral statement,” he said.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry does not think that the provocations of the Azerbaijani side in different parts of Artsakh in recent days cast a shadow on the work of the Russian peacekeeping contingent ․ “If someone tries to cast a shadow on our peacekeepers, it will not work, because their work is clear, within the framework of the interests of the settlement of the issue.”

As for certain cases of ceasefire violations in Artsakh, Zakharova advised to apply to the Russian peacekeeping force ․ “Our peacekeepers are in touch with both sides; if necessary, an investigation is being conducted.”

The first meeting of the representatives of Armenia and Turkey will take place on January 14 in Moscow. According to Zakharova, Moscow supports the dialogue on normalization of bilateral relations.
