The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has issued a statement strongly condemning the gross violation of the ceasefire by the Azerbaijani armed forces on January 11 in the direction of the eastern border of the Republic of Armenia.
“The provocation of the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces is another manifestation of Azerbaijan’s continuous encroachments on the territorial integrity of Armenia, which began in 2021.” “From May 12, the infiltration of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia continued with regular armed attacks,” the statement reads.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry draws the international community’s attention to the fact that official Baku violates the basic principles of international law, including the UN Charter, and undermines regional security.
“The Armenian side has repeatedly stated that one of the ways to avoid further aggravation of the situation may be the mirror withdrawal of troops from the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the launch of an international monitoring mechanism along the border. “We call on the Azerbaijani authorities to refrain from provocative actions, to fulfill their commitment to establish stability in the region as a result of the Brussels meeting through a trilateral statement in Sochi,” the statement said.
